This was a very interesting project for me. At first, I didn't like it very much. Then I loved it... then I hated it... and now I'm content with it. That emotional process shows that I probably took much too long on this. This is an 18" X 24" piece that was based off of minimalistic logo design. I loved the project when I was doing each individual circle or square, but I struggled a little with the final logo. Eventually I changed my entire direction, but achieved exactly what I wanted. The reason this post is named "I Love Color" is because the color scheme is probably the most unique aspect of this piece. I tried something different and in the end I am very pleased with how it turned out. It gives the exact feel I was going for. An artist can't ask for much more than that. So... last piece of Art 3 2-D design... kind of sentimental... sniff sniff.
Everything Alex
My theme for this semester is Love. Cliche, right? But not quite... I have a sort of infatuation with... Infatuation. I think I've always viewed love differently than most in High School. Love shouldn't be handed out freely, but kept reserved for the people that you want in your life. I not only want to show romantic love, but loving your family and loving the things that make you complete. I want to explore what I think is the one emotion that keeps everyone going.

I Love Summer
I know I am not the only one excited about summer! And I have a feeling that this summer is going to be extra great. I am visiting Texas and New York. That means that I get to visit the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, and The Guggenheim and Museum of Modern Art in New York City. I can not WAIT!! You guys will definitely see a lot of posts from me as I travel and try to capture the exciting sites I see along the way. This summer I will also begin working on my A.P. Art portfolio and I can't wait for the journey to begin. Only two days of school left... We can do this!

Did I Ever Mention I Love Gesso?
At the beginning of the semester I loved Gesso so much because it helped prepare my altered book pages for the wonderful things I could create. But now I love Gesso because it covered up the horrible mess I made! I was almost done with my final logo for the logo project and first realized I left a letter out of my title and second realized my strawberry seeds were ugly. I have never felt such resentment towards a piece of artwork. And that is when I decided that I just didn't like it. I had done a horrible job and would not finish that project with a logo that looked that bad! So I did something that felt amazing! I drew up a new sketch that looked 100 times better then Gessoed all over that mess. I just wanted to share that little experience with you, because I feel that it will be the first of many as a future A.P. Art student. Next year I will love Gesso ever more.

I Love Sweet
So... just a little preview. I told you I love acrylic. This is my latest project. You must fill the circles and squares with different interpretations of something you have chose to advertise.(I have chosen Everything Sweet) Once they are all filled, you use those as "inspiration" for your final logo. The final logo will then be made as a reduction print. I wasn't too excited about this at first, but now it is actually pretty fun. I like changing up what I'm painting frequently. Plus... you can never get tired of cupcakes.

I Love Acrylic
I said it... I love acrylic. At the beginning of this class I dreaded every painting I had to do because I just wasn't comfortable with it yet. However, now acrylic is one of my first choices. I have even chosen to use this medium again for my next project. Not only do I love acrylic, but I loved doing this project. It was so much fun, and the only time so far this year that I have had nothing that I didn't like when I finished a project. This is a 12" by 18" grid painting inspired by Chuck Close, and that size was perfect for the amount of squares and details that I wanted. I think the color scheme turned out really nice. Also, I planned on only doing a few black and white square, but after doing a few they looked too cool to limit to only 3 or 4. The black lines were a last minute thing to tie the piece together and I think it really makes it look like a finished product. I am very happy with this work that is named "Daisy Adele" after a sweet friend.

I Love Flea Markets
I love how this turned out. I wasn't really sure what my plan was, I just kind of went with it and it turned out even better than I thought it would. The lace, frame, and corner pieces are things I picked up at a flea market. The corner pieces used to be old clip-on earings so I broke off the backs and hot glued them on. I had to cut into the cover of the book to fit on the frame and I also painted it with some acrylic. I think the warm colors work well together and I like the texture of the background. I just used some watered down acrylic and a paper towel for that. A lot of experimenting, but it looks pretty "antique" if you ask me. ;)

I Love My Sister
Wow... this project took such a long time. I had no clue how much of a time commitment a collage is. This started out as an 18X24 but I ended up cutting some of the bottom off and it is now forever a 15X24. The yellow was a last minute decision. I was actually getting a little bit tired of gluing and cutting out the same colors so I just pulled out a yellow magazine page and formed the shirt. I love how it turned out. I'm still not sure how I feel about the blue hair. It looks cool, but it seems sort of random to me now that I'm finished. There is just no way the hair could have stood out if it was brown like the logs. Oh yes... the LOGS! That's what those circles are if you just couldn't figure it out. :-) They are very abstracted and I love them even though I think I spent a little too much time on them! But all in all... Skin is hard, yellow is good, my sister is hot, and being done with this project is a relief.
P.S. Oh yeah... this is my sister.
